About Me

My photo
In June 2011 I moved to Arusha, Tanzania, East Africa with the view of staying for one year. More than two years later and I have four beautiful Tanzanian foster children and there is no sign of me moving back to the UK. This blog was created as a way for family and friends to keep up to date on our life here and to see my little ones growing up, feel free to take a read and leave your comments. To find out about the work I am doing here visit www.tauf.org.uk (under construction).

Birthday Girlie!

The cake went a little wrong due to crappy yellow writing icing

Layla turned four on August 17th 2013, but, she doesn’t know that, as far as she is concerned she turned four on October 18th 2013. The reason we had her birthday two months late is because I was away in England and I didn’t want her celebrating without me and I didn’t really want her knowing I wasn’t here for her birthday, after all she is only little and doesn’t really know her birth date. When I got home from the UK I had so much on that I didn’t get round to doing the birthday until now.

So on Thurs last week I spent half the night awake with a friend, baking a cake, blowing balloons, hanging up banners and wrapping gifts J On Friday morning a very excited Layla woke up!

We spent the morning opening presents and relaxing, she received several different bits including a keyboard from me which has proved to be the most used present I think I have ever given to anyone, literally from the moment she gets up to the moment she goes to bed that thing is being played with.

Early afternoon Mery, Ina, Erick (friends), the children and I headed out to Usa, around an hour drive, to go swimming at our favourite pool, Ngorodoto Mountain Lodge. We had a lovely couple of hours swimming and playing before heading to a local Tanzanian place to have a buffet lunch. When we got home several friends came by the house to sing happy birthday and to share the cake.

We had a wonderful day and most importantly the birthday girl was thoroughly spoilt and had a wonderful day, I can’t quite believe that my little two year old is now a big four year old, where has the time gone.

Happy Birthday sweet girl, I love you more than words can describe xxx
