About Me

My photo
In June 2011 I moved to Arusha, Tanzania, East Africa with the view of staying for one year. More than two years later and I have four beautiful Tanzanian foster children and there is no sign of me moving back to the UK. This blog was created as a way for family and friends to keep up to date on our life here and to see my little ones growing up, feel free to take a read and leave your comments. To find out about the work I am doing here visit www.tauf.org.uk (under construction).

Good Friends!

Here in Africa I have many new friends but in particular these three ladies who I love so much...
Upendo-CoL's Social Worker & my African Sister
Mama Musa (Fatina)-CoL's Supervsor & my African Mama

Batilda-CoL's Nurse & my African BiBi, Grandma
I love these ladies so very much, we have such a laugh at work playing jokes on each other and being silly. Together all four of us run Cradle and I must say I think we all do a wonderful job.
Upendo comes from a very well educated family, she is newly married and is a self motivated, hard working, beautiful lady. I am hoping to hear the pitter patter of tiny Upendo's in the not too distant future...!!
Mama Musa is a fun loving lady who is dedicated to Cradle of Love. She has already helped me out in times of need, she is a wonderful person who is always willing to help whether it be coming to help me with the kids because I am ill, showing me how to cook something, taking me shopping or carrying my bag home because my arms are full of children.
Batilda is a wonderful lady, she raised seven of her brother's children because their parents were in capable, she has now opened her home to three Cradle graduates two of which are HIV+ and the other has severe cerebal palsy. She is the more serious of the four of us and keeps us in line!

Without these ladies I know I could not do the wonderful job I am doing, they are always there for Cradle and for me. We spent a lot of our days laughing and joking, we spend lunch together at the table discussing many different issues and again laughing and joking.
It is very important to have good friends and I know these ladies will be friends for life.
Thank-you for being so wonderful and thank-you for being you, I do not know where I would be without the three of you!!!

and after humiliating them by making them wear the glasses then laughing at them Mama Musa insisted on taking this picture of me!!
