Firstly on Tuesday Mery, Alfie & I went to Samson's home to deliver some food. Samson recently lot his leg in a mining accident, he was buried for 2hours under the rubble. With a wife & two young children to support life will now be a struggle for this family who lived a relatively comfortable (for African standards) life previous to the accident. We took them some food which will keep them going or quite some time & we will see if we are able to offer any further support in the future.
Last week when we visited Samson we were introduced to another family who are living close by. The family consists of two Bibi's (Grandmas) one of which suffers terribly with ulcers, two young ladies, twins of 17, one of them has a 4 week old baby for which the Father is not around. They then have three other children aged 10, 7 & 4, the Mother's for the two older ones are daughters for the Bibi with ulcers & have abandoned their children, the youngest ones Mother passed away. None of the family have jobs and they are all in quite a bad situation. We took some food to them which again will last some time & I would like to help them further so I will see if that is possible.
Then on Wednesday a couple of friends, Layla and I went to visit Silvamus & Davis, twins who I cared for for two years before they returned to their Father in August. I was pleased to find both boys continue to do well, although today Silvamus had a bit of flu. We took them some food through TAUF & my friends brought clothes & toys for them. It was along drive to get there & back on very bad roads but it was worth it to spend a few hours with the boys.
On Thursday the same friends and I went with Bella to visit Helena, a little girl who came into my care vey malnourished at 10moths old and has thrived in the 2years I have cared for her. She returned to live with her Bibi in Sept & I am so pleased to see that she is thriving & is still the adorable, cheeky girl that she always was. Again we took her food & my friends brought clothes & toys.
The final family to visit was Mama Ombeni on Thursday. I was pleased to find all the family there which is rare since usually one of the children is not there. Again we found all the family well and delivered them some food, I am also looking into purchasing a cow for the family so they can sell some milk to generate income.
So all in all it was a busy week & by Friday I was exhausted, but it was also very successful, seeing soapy people through & doing well :)
If you feel able to contribute to the ongoing costs of these families please contact me at claire_upshall@hotmail.com there is a donate button to the right of this post but please note that money will go into my personal account, but if you are happy to do that then send me a message & I will withdraw the money for TAUF purposes, alternatively contact me for the charity's bank details.
Thank you for your continued support.
