About Me

My photo
In June 2011 I moved to Arusha, Tanzania, East Africa with the view of staying for one year. More than two years later and I have four beautiful Tanzanian foster children and there is no sign of me moving back to the UK. This blog was created as a way for family and friends to keep up to date on our life here and to see my little ones growing up, feel free to take a read and leave your comments. To find out about the work I am doing here visit www.tauf.org.uk (under construction).

More of Mum's Visit

Here is us at Impala Hotel where we went for a swim and lunch!

Round the corner is Frank's place, a little pub, one evening Mum, the kids and I joined Mama Musa, Frank, Frank's wife Mama Julianna, Frank's daughter Julianna & Frank's little sister Alan for dinner. We all sat together, had lovely food and chatted away. It was a really enjoyable evening.

One of the days we went to the Pancake House, it took us ages to find it but it was well worth it. They do a selection of sweet & savoury pancakes, Mum had pork sate which was delicious, I tried it, I had hot mango sauce & ice cream & the kids shared one cheese one & on bacon one which I guess they liked because it didn't stay on the plate long!

We went swimming on three occasions, once to Arumeru River Lodge which was very expensive & not very clean, however, we were the only people there which was nice. The next time we went to Impala in town which is nice as always & on Mum's last day we went to Ngorodoto Mountain Lodge which is beautiful, I really enjoy it there. We had lunch there which was nice.
Here in Arusha there are many of these giant storks, they circle around in the sky above or chill on the highest branches of the biggest trees. When we were swimming there was a very thirsty stalk, he came right up to the pool to take a drink, of course once he had done it three more swiftly followed.
