On Tuesday I was walking across the grounds at work when I heard the cries of kittens, I turned around and saw a little head poking out the bushes, upon further investigation I saw three tiny, skinny kittens. Some of the volunteers came across to help me and we managed to catch them and put them in the box, I went out and brought them some tuna which they ate so fast. I left the box in the garden all day in the hope the mum might come back but she never did so I ended up taking them home...yes, me the person who really isn't keen on cats has now ended up with three, well I couldn't just leave them there to die.
That night Mama Musa came round and helped me clean them up, we clipped their nails, bathed them and picked the fleas out of them. I don't think they are wild cats, I reckon someone dumped them because they are far to friendly.
Yesterday Susan and I took them to town to get checked over by the vets who gave them worming tablets and said they are all healthy. The two ginger cats are boys called Jua (Sun) and Mwezi (Moon) the tabby is a girl called Nyota (Star) Once I knew they were healthy and that the vets are so cheap, I brought them a litter tray, food and a bed which should keep them happy for a while. At the moment they sleep in the bathroom and stay in there while I am out but when I am home I let them run around. They are incredibly cute and I am becoming rather fond of them, they like to stay close by me and enjoy me stroking them. Selemani likes them, this morning he spent ages talking to them, Nancy is petrified of them which I find rather amusing, she will grow out of that in no time.
When they are a bit bigger one will go and live with Upendo and Mama Musa will have one, I think I will end up keeping one, probably the girl!

You have such a big heart! Those kitties are fortunate that you found them! xo
ReplyDeleteAwww, so cute! Wow, they have large ears. I simply love their names! Hehe, it's funny that Nancy is terrified of such tiny little things. I'm sure she'll adjust soon. Thanks for the pictures!
