About Me

In June 2011 I moved to Arusha, Tanzania, East Africa with the view of staying for one year. More than two years later and I have four beautiful Tanzanian foster children and there is no sign of me moving back to the UK. This blog was created as a way for family and friends to keep up to date on our life here and to see my little ones growing up, feel free to take a read and leave your comments. Happy Birthday Amy!!

Last night I got a babysitter for the kids and went out, my first proper night out in four months!! When I was first asked to go out I really wasn't sure, could I leave Selemani, would he be ok?? Also now I have Helen too should I leave them both. Well I called on a good friend and decided I would indeed go out, when Saturday night came round I was very glad of this decision as Selemani had been a bit of a nightmare!!
I would have liked to have got the kids into bed before I went but I had to go so early that it wasn't possible, when Beth the babysitter arrived I had both the kids ready for bed but had neglected to get myself ready.
The amount of times I have babysat and had the parent showing me where everything was and how to do things, now it was me doing the showing, it felt very strange!! I had pre-warned Selemani that I would be going out at which point he shook his head defiantly and said 'No Mummy!' so I was sure there was going to be a big tantrum and tears from him and me when it came to departure time.
Well when I left he was very happy playing 'Bye mummy' whilst waving to me and giving me a big kiss! It may have been to do with a small bribe involving chocolate brownies and it worked a treat, thank goodness for chocolate and bribes :-)
I went to my friends house where we had a glass of wine then went to a restaurant called the Bay Leaf, altogether there were six of us and we had a lovely meal. I enjoyed steak and chips and it was the best steak I have ever tasted! We all had a chit chat and we sung happy birthday to Amy over a bog chocolate fudge cake which was delicious.
Thank-you to you all for a wonderful evening, I was rather tiddly by the end of the night and came home to two sleeping children...wonderful.
Thank-you Beth for being a wonderful babysitter :-)
