About Me

My photo
In June 2011 I moved to Arusha, Tanzania, East Africa with the view of staying for one year. More than two years later and I have four beautiful Tanzanian foster children and there is no sign of me moving back to the UK. This blog was created as a way for family and friends to keep up to date on our life here and to see my little ones growing up, feel free to take a read and leave your comments. To find out about the work I am doing here visit www.tauf.org.uk (under construction).

We Live in a Zoo

Currently, we quite literally live in a zoo, 25-30 rabbits, 4 guinea pigs, 11 dogs, 3 tortoises and a partiridge in a pear tree, not that I am complaining, I love animals and so do the children.

Our gorgeous puppies, above, they are growing fast, we have Blossom, Betsy, Bruce, Bobby, Billie, Brandy, Bingo, Bonnie & Buddy. Another month or so and they will be ready to find new homes, though Betsy, the little black one who is the runt of the litter and the first one I watched being born, I think we will keep her.

Above are some of our very beautiful bunnies, aren't they just adorable in such a range of different colours. I have only just recently understood the saying 'breeding like rabbits' goodness me they can produce a lot of offspring. Did you know, something I found out the other day, within an hour of giving birth a rabbit can become pregnant again? By the time the new babies are ready to be born the previous ones are weaned and out the nest, a rabbit is pregnant for around 30 days, so she can have a handful or more of babies every month. I love learning about animals, I find them fascinating.

Hugs, Mama Watoto x

ps: I was totally joking about the partridge in a pear tree, we don't even have a pear tree, an avocado tree yes but no pears.
