About Me
- Mama Alfie
- In June 2011 I moved to Arusha, Tanzania, East Africa with the view of staying for one year. More than two years later and I have four beautiful Tanzanian foster children and there is no sign of me moving back to the UK. This blog was created as a way for family and friends to keep up to date on our life here and to see my little ones growing up, feel free to take a read and leave your comments. To find out about the work I am doing here visit www.tauf.org.uk (under construction).

Beautiful Views
Above is Mt Meru and the picture was taken just a two minute walk from my house. Mt Meru is a dormant volcano which lost most of its bulk in an explosion 8,000 years ago, it has a height of almost 15,000ft, making it the 5th largest mountain in Africa. The picture here doesn't do it justice, I snapped it on my phone, it really is an amazing sight and I am so lucky to live so very close, in fact, on clear days, I have a beautiful view of it from my house.
In the picture above you can see my house, the one with the big blue roof. When I moved back in October I struck gold, this house was cheaper than the house I was living in previously which was probably a quarter of the size, it also comes with an amazing landlord, every other landlord/lady I have ever had have been very difficult (this is the 7th house I have lived in since moving to TZ so I have dealt with a lot of landlords/ladies). This is in fact the first house I have lived in which has truly felt like home, I feel so incredibly lucky that I found this place, it has been a very difficult time but having a beautiful house to continue raising my children in has helped make that difficult time just a little easier. You can see from the picture too that not only do we live next to Mt Meru but we also have other beautiful views too.
Hugs, Mama Watoto x
