About Me

My photo
In June 2011 I moved to Arusha, Tanzania, East Africa with the view of staying for one year. More than two years later and I have four beautiful Tanzanian foster children and there is no sign of me moving back to the UK. This blog was created as a way for family and friends to keep up to date on our life here and to see my little ones growing up, feel free to take a read and leave your comments. To find out about the work I am doing here visit www.tauf.org.uk (under construction).

Terengire National Park

Ok Sunday 23rd we were very fortunate to have been invited by a friend to join them on safari to Terengeri national park, this will be the first real safari for my children and my first time in this park.
My Beautiful Family
Thousands of people travel thousands of miles every year to come on safari, we are so incredibly lucky to have all this within a couple of hours drive from our house!

We had a wonderful day, the weather was hot, the children were very well behaved and we saw many animals.

This monkey nearly gave me a heart attack by taking bread from Alfie's hand, Alfie wasn't bothered but it shook me up, needless to say, I no longer like monkeys!
Look at the beauty, 2 hour drive people!!

At one point the children counted 5 different animals all together at the river plus some birds, giraffe, elephant, zebra, impala, wildebeast, what an amazing sight to see five very beautiful creatures all living together in harmony.
What a beautiful country I live in...!!
Love this picture, looks like the elephant is having a wonderful time!

The only thing that annoyed me about the day was the very rude tourists taking photographs of the children, I can guarantee you that if my children had the same colour skin as me they would not have felt the need to take photographs, luckily right now my children don't notice but I know as they grow they will notice things like that. When you go on safari you go to see the animals and take photos of them NOT the other guests children!!! (ok rant over)

Alfie was more interested in the fact we were in a safari car then he was in the animals but he did pay some attention because since then he keeps telling me facts that he learnt that day. Layla and Annie enjoyed taking it in turns to stand on the chair and look out the roof, which was open, B surprised me by how interested she was in the animals, it was lovely.

Thank-you to my wonderful friend Carolyn for a fabulous day out!!
