About Me

My photo
In June 2011 I moved to Arusha, Tanzania, East Africa with the view of staying for one year. More than two years later and I have four beautiful Tanzanian foster children and there is no sign of me moving back to the UK. This blog was created as a way for family and friends to keep up to date on our life here and to see my little ones growing up, feel free to take a read and leave your comments. To find out about the work I am doing here visit www.tauf.org.uk (under construction).

Getting In The Spirit

Ok, so I am not feeling very Christmassy right now and for those who know me that will come as a shock because I love Christmas. Christmas just isn't the same here, no supermarkets decorated to the max, no streets shining their trees and lights and it is HOT!! I am trying to get in the spirit for my son but it isn't working. The other day I was sat in the office and some volunteers were singing Christmas songs, it brought tears to my eyes because it reminded me how much I miss home and Christmas with my family!!

But on Saturday I became just a little bit more Christmassy because I went to the Christmas fair in town. Dad, Selemani, Helen, Amy, Pray and I went and we saw many people there who we know. It was kind of like being back home though because almost everyone was white!!

We did a little shopping, I brought some nice decs, the kids played although Selemani would not go on the bouncy castle and we had lunch. It was a nice day, Selemani got to meet Father Christmas for the first time but really wasn't too sure.
