The social welfare officer told me that although it would be a long process I would be successful in adopting, well as you can imagine I was over the moon, ecstatic, so happy, it was not what I expected him to say. I am more than prepared for the long process if it means I can have my son!
So over the following two weeks I set to work, finding myself somewhere to live, furnishing it. I now have a lovely little two bed house with the bare minimum in furniture, it is perfect for Selemani and I. It is in a nice little neighbourhood which I have been told is very safe, however because I am a 'Mzungu' (white person) I was advised to hire a guard because I stand out and people automatically assume we have money. So I have a lovely Massai man who comes to my house 7pm-7am every night to keep me safe. He is the brother of the wonderful guard that we have at Cradle, he is a very nice man and every night I make him a flask of hot tea :-) he doesn't speak a word of English but we get by! I am just ecstatic, this is exactly what I have wanted for so long now, Selemani is going to be my son, I am going to be a Mummy!
This is a blog created to keep all my family and friends in the UK updated on my life as a Mother of four Tanzanian children. Please feel free to read and leave a comment :)
